Code of Conduct
Every player deserves a safe, positive and memorable hockey experience. These standards apply whenever someone represents the Ottawa Spartans or participates in a KSL activity or event.
Respect Comes First
- Respect the game, opponents, coaches and officials.
- Follow club and league rules, policies and procedures.
- Do not engage in disrespectful, offensive, abusive, racist or sexist conduct.
- Harassment, abuse and bullying will not be tolerated.
Players Come First
- Keep the experience age-appropriate, challenging and fun.
- Protect player safety, well-being and long-term development.
- Communicate honestly, consistently and positively.
- Follow medical advice when deciding whether an injured player may return.
Coaches, Trainers, Managers and Team Staff
Lead by example. Show professionalism, respect, integrity and self-discipline in every interaction. Maintain appropriate boundaries with players, cooperate with officials and families, and ensure equipment and facilities meet current safety standards.
The well-being and development of our players must come before results.
Parents, Guardians and Spectators
Be a positive influence. Cheer for your child and their teammates, respect officials and opponents, and allow coaches to coach. Never ridicule a player for a mistake, publicly question an official's honesty, or engage in verbal or physical abuse.
Passion and competitiveness are welcome. Disrespectful, threatening or inappropriate behaviour is not.
Players
Play by the rules, respect officials' decisions and treat teammates and opponents with dignity. Control your temper, work for your team and remember that you represent yourself, your family, your team and the Ottawa Spartans on the ice and around the rink.
Accountability
The Code of Conduct is not optional. A breach may lead to appropriate discipline, including removal from an activity, suspension of privileges or removal from the program.
Reporting a Concern
Where appropriate, start with your team manager or head coach. Concerns may also be sent directly to Club Operations at info@ottawaspartans.ca. Serious matters can be escalated to KSL under its official policy.
Anyone may raise a good-faith concern without reprisal. Informal resolution may be appropriate in some cases, but it does not prevent a concern from being formally reported.

Ottawa Spartans completes the required organization acknowledgement centrally. Staff and families do not need to sign a separate document unless Club Operations asks them to do so.
